Manufacturing Engineer
PURPOSE: Creating, documenting, developing, improving and implementing procedures used to assemble, process, test and/or manufacture of Transition Networks’ products.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
- Provide assistance to Contract Manufacturers to achieve maximum performance.
- Implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles on the manufacturing floor.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing, quality and assembly issues using failure mode effect analysis.(FMEA)
- Define, refine and improve existing processes including:
- Manufacturing test procedures
- Process development
- Creation of process documentation
- Product design for manufacturability and assembly
- Capacity, efficiency and floor design
- Production processing
- Problem solving
- Liaison between Engineering and Production.
- Review new product design for manufacturability.
- Design, install, and debug tooling and capital equipment.
- Manage test equipment for Contract Manufacturers and internal customers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Nature & Scope - Reports to Director of Manufacturing Operations.
Environmental Job Requirements: - Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Competencies: - Computer skills: requires proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to read Schematics.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Strong ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere.
- Understanding of EMC and safety certifications as related to product manufacturing.
- Familiar with IPC-A-610 standard.
Minimum Qualifications: - Four year college degree in a Technical field.
- Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5
- 10-15% travel: Domestic and International.
- Must be a self starter.
- Background in quality assurance testing.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization.
Preferred Qualifications: - Familiar with ISO 9001 and/or 14001 development environment.
- Training in CAD and or Visio
- Training in Lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience in networking product manufacturing.
- Familiar with Six Sigma principles
